Strategic Purchaser

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Responsibilities
  • Purchase materials, supplies and services as required to fill customer orders 
  • Facilitate and manage the procurement and planning of all materials
  • Cost analysis with goal of reductions in cost, lead time, and efficiency
  • Improve supply chain with waste elimination, cost reductions, lead time improvements, and innovation
  • Alignment of the business and sourcing strategies through the supplier integration plan
  • Track inventory turns, measure inventory accuracy and implement improvement processes
  • Identification and development of suppliers 
  • Close collaboration with other departments
  • Reduce material costs, logistic costs and inventory through negotiations with suppliers   

Requirements
  • 3-5+ years of purchasing and procurement experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Proficient working with SAP/ERP systems 
  • Proven experience to lead negotiations to find profitable solutions 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to source cost-effective solutions
  • Strong background with logistic, quality, and process requirements
