CAD Supervisor

Location: Wixom , OH

Our client is seeking a CAD Supervisor will be responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating CAD activities for the Engineering Department. 

Responsibilities
  • Assign and schedule CAD work for 6-8 hourly team members of the CAD department. 
  • Coordinate project work and schedules with Engineering Manager (and Project Engineers). 
  • Train new persons in the department. 
  • Stay updated on changes in CAD system hardware and software. 
  • Oversees operation, maintenance and enhancements to CAD system. 
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the CAD Operators and acts as a mentor by providing technical assistance and advisement to all members of the department. 
  • Ensures all CAD Operators are meeting project timelines within budgeted costs. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, get along with co-workers, and deal with colleagues effectively and professionally.   
Requirements
  • Make initial layout of proposed assembly. Writes bills of material as required. 
  • Selects commercial components and materials of construction for individual parts based upon calculated loads and applied stresses. 
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, strength of materials and other physical sciences to check and/or complete drawings. 
  • Checks and approves detailed drawings done by others prior to fabrication. 
  • Generates job bills of material for construction. 
  • Follows jobs through construction and testing. 
  • Revises assembly, detail drawings, and bills of material as required. 
  • Works on multiple design projects simultaneously. 
  • A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required. 
  • Education: Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, CAD, Design or related field.   
  • Must have seven years related Engineering experience and/or training with a minimum of 5 years management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Must be proficient in manual and CAD drafting.  
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience required.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft products including Word, and Excel.  
  • Syteline experience a plus. 
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management; work as a team member with the Engineering Department and with other departments and people of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Must have high mechanical aptitude. 
  • Strong written, verbal, design and interpersonal skills.  
  • Must have excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must possess excellent team building and supervisory skills.
