Product Designer II

A product designer develops designs for mechanical or electrical components and subsystems using CAD and PLM. 

What You Will Do 

- Assist in establishing basic project design objectives and in the selection of design approaches 
- Serve as a consultant to outside vendors 
- Provide planning input for design engineering and development activities 
- Prepare requests for project support as needed 
- Develop and obtain prototype parts for testing and pre-production activities 
- Apply DFM/DFA concepts in developing designs 
- Participate in design review activities and contribute to FEA 
- Establish component tolerances in accordance with manufacturing capabilities 
- Perform complex tolerance analysis and validation 
- Critique designs for safety, manufacturability, failure modes, customer usage and function 

What You Need To Succeed 

- 4 year degree in applicable field and 5+ years experience OR 2 years post-secondary education and 6-8 years experience 
- Experience using PTC Creo Parametric 
- Experience using PTC Windchill Product Lifecycle management (PLM) 
- GD&T proficiency 
- Experience with manufacturing processes and component design for these processes 
- Understanding of top-down design techniques 
- Experience using Google products 
- Experience using Microsoft Office products 
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
- Ability to manage time and work effectively while being self-motivated 
- Ability to adapt as designs and process improve over time
